Awesomeness

My son? He is the best. Here are my favorites of living with a 13-month old boy.

1. During story time, I show him two books and instead of reaching toward or pointing at the book that he wants to be read, he literally pushes away the one that he doesn't want. I can almost hear him telling me "Get that book outa here!" In a New York accent. Don't ask me why.

2. He mouths his blankie when he falls asleep. Every night, I put him in the crib and throw the blankie on him covering his face. He yanks it down. Smiles at me. I kiss him good night and tell him that I love him and he quickly begins mouthing his blanket. I actually hurry out of the room feeling like this is a private time that I don't need to see. Once again, don't ask me why.

3. For the first time last night, I asked him if he was hungry and wanted to eat dinner. He walked right into the kitchen (with the dog not far behind) and went straight for the high chair and lifted his arms.

4. He is still the one-manned Fan Police. You turn a fan off anywhere in the house and he will tell you. Point at the fan, glare at offender, followed by a repeated "dah dah dah dah dah" until said Offender repairs the fan.

5. He gives hugs on command (when he is in the mood) and about half of the time he even pats the lucky recipient on the back.

6. He loves broccoli.

7. He loves his blankie. At any given time, if that blankie is within reach, he'll pull it down on the floor and lay on and proceed to start mouthing it.

8. When feeling "musical," he'll walk right on in to the study, open the piano and start banging away.

A funny side note, Jason thinks that Riley has a little crush on Nova. Personally, we think she is hands down the cutest girl in the Nova's class. Bravo!

putting it plainly

Here's to making every day count. Yes, yes, that is extremely cheesy, but I'm sick and tired of realizing that another week or month has passed me by, and I'm just kind of floating along for the ride. No more!

I want to stop (constantly) looking forward to the next vacation, the next season, the next project at work....you get the picture....and enjoy what I'm doing RIGHT NOW. I figure if I commit to an idea on the INTERNET, I have no choice but to follow through. Right?
